Due to popular request, we are releasing the recipe that makes is the cherry on top of our amazing outings: Jass' Macarons!
No matter the weather, no matter the effort, Jass' Macaron (with love as the secret ingredient) makes everything better. It gives you energy on long walks o kayak trips.
This comes from an old Franco-Canadian tradition. Macarons can be found in every Quebecois table during winter holidays. They are very good at giving you energy after playing in the snow all day ;).
Here it is friends:
Macarons 12 portions
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cup of sugar 5 spoonfuls of cocoa 1/2 cup of milk 1/2 cup of shortening 3 cups of oatmeal 1 cup of grated coconut 1 teaspoon of vanila extract 1 teaspoon of salt
Procedure:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F)
Heat up the sugar, cocoa, milk, and shortening in a pan. Take to a boil and let it simmer for a minute, then remove from the fire. Then add all the other ingredients (oatmeal, coconut, vanilla, and salt) and mix.
Butter up an oven tray and start to put the mixture on it. Use a spoon so that you can do this in little balls about the size of a cookie.
Put them in the oven for 5 minutes (or a little longer). Take them out and let them cool in the fridge for a few hours before eating them. They keep very well in the freezer.
